Jamhuri Day fixtures: Gor Mahia and Homeboyz battle for top spot as Bandari, Bidco hunt redemption

Five FKF Premier League fixtures headline Jamhuri Day across Kenya, with Kenya Police leading, Gor Mahia chasing, and struggling sides like Bandari and Murang’a Seal fighting to escape danger.

The FKF Premier League rolls into an action-packed Jamhuri Day, with five fixtures lined up across the country as teams hunt for crucial points heading into the tail end of the year.

Kenya Police sit at the summit with 20 points, just one above Gor Mahia, Kakamega Homeboyz and Posta Rangers - setting the stage for a fierce battle for control of the table.

At the opposite end, Kariobangi Sharks remain bottom with eight points, joined in the danger zone by Murang’a Seal and Sofapaka.

The spotlight will fall on Mbaraki where Bandari welcome Gor Mahia in one of the day’s biggest fixtures.

The Dockers come into the match in turmoil, having parted ways with head coach Mohammed Borji and his assistant after a poor run that produced just one win in eight matches. Interim coach Razak Siwa takes charge today, hoping to steady a ship that has gone three matches without victory.

Bandari, currently 14th, last tasted victory on November 15 against Sofapaka. Since then, two draws and a painful 1-0 defeat to APS Bomet triggered a coaching shake-up.

Gor Mahia are also wounded. K’Ogalo suffered back-to-back losses, first a shocking 4-1 collapse to in-form APS Bomet, and then a bitter 1-0 Mashemeji Derby defeat to AFC Leopards. Before the slump, Gor had lost only once all season (to Bidco in the opener) and were on a strong winning run interrupted only by a draw against Ulinzi Stars.

With three losses in ten matches and league leaders Kenya Police overtaking them, Gor Mahia will be desperate to reclaim momentum and reassert their dominance.

A high-profile clash awaits in Kakamega, where Homeboyz host a resurgent Shabana. Homeboyz sit third with 19 points and are eyeing the top spot should Gor Mahia drop points.

They head into the match after a 0-0 draw with KCB and have managed just one win from their last four outings. Coach Patrick Odhiambo’s side will treat today as a must-win to stay in the title conversation.

Shabana, meanwhile, is enjoying their best spell of the season. The Glamour Boys have won their last two matches and sit fifth with 18 points. Another win could propel them into the top bracket as their dream return to the top flight continues to gather momentum.

Bidco United will kick off the day’s action when they host Mathare United at Kasarani. The Oilers are enduring a nightmare run; seven matches without a win and three consecutive losses. Their last victory came in October against Ulinzi Stars, and coach Anthony Akhulia is under pressure as the team continues to struggle in attack, scoring in just one of their last seven fixtures.

Bidco sit 12th with 13 points.

Mathare United also arrive from a loss, having fallen 1-0 to Mara Sugar. The Slum Boys have had mixed results recently, two wins and two defeats in their last four matches, with their most recent win coming against Nairobi United. With only a one-point gap separating the two sides, this is a classic six-pointer where momentum and confidence will be up for grabs.

APS Bomet’s resurgence will be under threat from title-chasing Posta Rangers. Bomet have collected seven points from their last three matches, climbing out of the relegation zone thanks to their newfound rhythm and backing from Mozzart Bet.

A win today could lift them as high as ninth.

Posta Rangers, tied in the title race with 19 points, come into the clash in strong form. They have secured back-to-back wins over Bidco United and Nairobi United. Victory in Kericho could see Posta reach the summit depending on other results.

Nairobi United find themselves winless in four matches and sliding down the table into 13th. Coach Nicholas Muyoti is under growing pressure as rumours of a possible dismissal swirl around the club.

Murang’a Seal have drawn their last four matches and remain stuck in the relegation fight. They will need more than draws if they are to secure a fourth straight season in the top flight.

This is a crucial fixture for both struggling sides.
